In March 2019 the head monk of Nairobi Buddhist temple, Ven Bhante Y. Wimala welcomed The President of Sri Lanka, Hon. Mairtripala Sirisena to the temple.

The President was accompanied by several government ministers, The Hon. High Commissioner to Kenya Mr. De Silva and several dignitaries from Kenya and Sri Lanka.

As the president arrived,  African students danced and sang traditional songs to welcome him.

The President, first received blessings from Bhanteji at the temple shrine. Then he went to the monks’ residence and discussed various matters of interest in a friendly and lighthearted manner while enjoying a cup of tea. Before his departure, the President was entertained by young African students who sang cultural songs and danced beautifully.
