On a five-day February, 2011 visit to Uganda, Bhante visited the capital of Kampala and several other cities. He was joined by Mr. Dawda, chairman of Manji Biscuits in Kenya, and Mr. Patmasiri, general manager of Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB).
While touring, Bhante met with General Caleb Akandwanaho, brother of the president of Uganda, as well as several politicians and business people to discuss humanitarian projects, water resource management and hydropower projects.
The highlight of the trip was visiting the Kilembe Hydropower Project in its final phase of completion. Mr. Manoranjan, the geotechnical engineer from Sri Lanka managing the construction work, took them on a tour of the site. The dam and power plant are being built by VS Hydro Ltd., with CECB as consultants. Both companies are from Sri Lanka.
During the visit Bhante spent two days with his guests at Queen Elizabeth National Park. He enjoyed the beauty of the rivers, mountains, forest, and wildlife.
Mr. Dawda sponsored the trip.
