We are delighted to announce that once again Bhante Y. Wimala has being appointed as the Chief Sangha Nayaka (Head Monk) to the United States. In addition he was also appointed as the Chief Sangha Nayaka to the Czech Republic and Kenya.
On the 14th of March, 2010 Bhante Wimala was invited to a meeting of the Supreme Council of Monks in the hill country town of Nuwaraeliya, Sri Lanka to receive this award in recognition of the numerous humanitarian projects and Buddhist Temples in Kenya, the Czech Republic and the United States he has founded and continues to mentor. Bhante received this appointment from the senior representatives of the Supreme Council of Monks. On the same day Bhante also received the Peace Ambassador award, a prestigious honor presented to only a very few monks in recognition of the international work he does.
