Vesak Celebration 2011: Program at Nairobi Buddhist Temple

The Nairobi Buddhist Temple will be celebrating Vesak, to commemorate the Birth, the Enlightenment and the Passing away of the Buddha. This is undoubtedly the most sacred day of the Buddhist calendar. The Nairobi Buddhist Temple has put together a nice program to celebrate this day of enlightenment, the day of peace and spiritual awareness. Teaching in Nairobi Temple

Bhante read his New Year Message to students and friends of the Nairobi Buddhist Temple on January 9, 2011. After his students requested that Bhante elaborate on the message, he spoke from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the benefits of compassion and how to apply compassion in daily life.

Uganda Tour

On a five-day February, 2011 visit to Uganda, Bhante visited the capital of Kampala and several other cities. He was joined by Mr. Dawda, chairman of Manji Biscuits in Kenya, and Mr. Patmasiri, general manager of Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB).   full story...

CECB General Manager Visits Kenya

Mr. Patmasiri, General Manager of Central Engineering Constancy Bureau (CECB) in Sri Lanka, visited Kenya and attended several meetings to discuss water resource management and hydropower projects. He was invited by Bhante Wimala and Hon. Mbau, a member of parliament.   full story...

Parliamentary Friendship Association

On the 13th of December, 2010, Bhante participated in the first meeting of the Sri Lanka -Kenya Parliamentary Friendship Association. The event was organized by the Sri Lankan Embassy and was attended by 15 members of the Kenyan Parliament, most of who chair various parliamentary committees.  Also in attendance were the Sri Lankan High Commissioner and the Deputy High Commissioner who organized the event.   full story...
